Immigrant Insurance

What is Immigrant Insurance??

This kind of insurance is designed to offer a range of benefits for US citizens and non-US citizens who are planning on traveling, living or working abroad for extended periods.

Why you need Immigrant Insurance?

If you are spending a lot of time in another country then you need to think about protecting your financial interests should anything adverse happen to you. There is no guarantee that your medical costs in another country will be free - how much would it cost you, for example, for a hospital stay if you have a traffic accident or fell sick? Our immigrant insurance policies are designed to give you financial protection for healthcare and a range of other travel related costs. So, if something bad happens you will not be out of pocket.

Immigrant Insurance Coverage Periods

Our immigrant travel insurance policies are taken out for 12 month periods. By renewing every year, therefore, coverage can be supplied on a continuous basis as necessary.

Visitor Insurance Benefits

Our immigrant travel insurance policies give you a choice of benefits via three primary packages - Silver, Gold and Platinum. These policies can be taken out on a worldwide basis to include the U.S. and Canada or worldwide to exclude the U.S. and Canada. For example you will receive a range of benefits with our policies, including some/all of the following:

Immigrant Insurance Plan Characteristics - deductibles and coinsurance

One way to manage the costs of your immigrant insurance plan is to look at the characteristics of the plan (such as the allowed deductibles and coinsurance).

The deductible is the amount you are willing to pay before your policy takes over if you need to make a claim. Our deductible options range from $250-10,000. So, if you choose a $250 deductible then you pay the first $250 of your claim. In some of our policies here the deductible can be carried forward in the last 30 days of the certificate year.

Coinsurance is the percentage share of healthcare/medical costs arranged between you and the insurer. When you are traveling outside the USA or Canada or when you use a medical provider in the PPO network there is no coinsurance charge. If traveling in the USA or Canada, our plans pay 80% of eligible expenses for the first $5,000 and 100% up to the policy maximum.

So, for example, if you were to have treatment in the U.S. that cost $8,000 and you had a deductible of $250 then you would pay this deductible leaving a cost of $7,750. Your insurer would then cover 80% of the first $5,000 of this cost - i.e. they would pay $4,000 and you would pay the remaining 20% of $1,000. They would then pay the remaining cost of $2,750.

Immigrant Insurance Plan Conditions

U.S. citizens looking to take out our immigrant visitor should either live abroad or be planning on leaving the country on the date of the insurance plan with a view to living abroad for at least six of the next twelve months. Non-U.S. citizens can live anywhere. Coverage is available for people aged between 14 days and 74 years. Lifetime medical coverage will only apply if people take out a plan before they turn 65 and keep their coverage continuous until they reach 75.
