Visa Fees

When you apply for a visa you will be asked to pay a visa application processing fee. This fee is non-refundable - even if your application is denied you will not get this fee back. This application fee is set in the United States at $100 - you will normally be charged this amount in your local currency, depending on your country of application.

Some countries will also charge an administration fee for handling your application - again this depends on the country you are in and the system that operates.

In addition, if your application is successful you may also need to pay a visa issuance fee. This fee is based on reciprocity tables set by participating governments. So, if one country charges a fee for a U.S. citizen to get this kind of visa then the U.S. will charge the same level of fee when somebody from that country gets a visitor visa. If the country waives the issuance fee then the U.S. will waive it in return.

To find out exactly which fees you will be charged for your visitor visa, contact your local U.S. embassy or consulate.
